Copenhagen reports say independent and people’s commissioners may form a new Berlin cabinet soon perhaps today. Berlin talks between the people’s commission and independent Socialists yielded no result as Allied troops look likely to arrive, while Berlin sailors clash with republican guards amid turmoil. Dudendorff reportedly flees to Russia to command Bolshevik forces as Paris notes French troops occupy the Dalmatian base at Cattaro.
Washington reports that preferential discharges from the army will not be granted to college students. Third Assistant Secretary of War Keppel told Senator New of Indiana that Secretary Baker feared adverse criticism if such a policy were adopted as winter terms begin.
December 25 in New York three firemen were badly burned and twelve others including firemen Lieut. William G Craven and Fred Kaiser and Charles Schneider were seriously hurt when a gasoline tank and a large automobile truck exploded in the Bronx. Back firing by the truck engine allegedly started the fire and explosion.

James Charles Farrell, 48, a capitalist of Albany and son-in-law of the late Anthony N. Brady, died at the Post-Graduate Hospital after an operation. He had traveled from his Thurlow Terrace home last Tuesday with his wife at his bedside throughout. Farrell, born in Albany, was educated at Christian Brotherhood Academy and married Margaret Brady.
