Ward with high grade gold on Trail gulch near Delta

A. B. Ward of Delta, with Mrs. Ward, traveled to Spokane after visiting Wallace. He has long mined near Delta and oversees Kennan Mining on Pony Gulch. Samples from the Fannie at Trail Gulch show iron-bearing ore with high gold values, possibly a bonanza. The 500-foot tunnel, 400-foot depth, and vein from 2 to 4 feet wide yield gold-bearing ore. Ward plans development and possible shipment to Bunker Hill smelter, aiming to strike another rich pocket like Sweeny and Linden found in 1884.

Douglas Ore Shoots At Board of Trade West Side Of Creek

Douglas ore shoots on the Marmion claim show a widening vein with lead and zinc, suggesting a strong ore body on the west side of Pine creek. The Douglas company, led by Joss and Rossi, has staked two new claims between the Marmion and Trapper ground, tied to an extension of Marmion tunnel. Henry C. Adams reports assays with lead 26.5 percent and zinc 20.8 percent in the lead and zinc samples, while the ore remains a complex lead-silver-zinc blend suitable for electrolytic processing when transportation and market conditions improve. The Board of Trade meeting closes a year of activity with new officers elected and financials detailing receipts and expenditures.
