Drag dredge touted to cut costs in placer mining
Missoula reports a new drag dredge by J. M. Flugstad may revolutionize placer mining. The 100 horsepower water wheel powered dredge removes heavy boulders from creek beds, reducing gravel depth and hand labor. It aims to lower costs on Hughes creek workings and could open more pay dirt in western Montana and Coeur d Alene districts.
