The Amazon-Dixie Mining Company, led by Vesey Everett and Herman J. Rossi, outlines progress since the last report. The shaft nears the Revett formation with 170 feet more sunk, 1087 feet of drift and crosscutting, and gains toward the 1500 level.
Herman J. Rossi reports a message from J C Feehan that at Paragon Consolidated Mining Company annual meeting directors decided to install electric power and begin work immediately. Power will run mine and mill to prevent delays from water shortages. a 100 ton mill is ready for steady operation. shaft extended to 300 feet will increase ore supply. independent Black Horse prospects may show deposits. consolidation with Black Horse aims to restore North Side railroad shipping.
Persistent reports of a large high grade ore body on the Hercules 800 level surface as a bonanza, with crosscutting and drilling ongoing since the mile closed. A potential resumption of Day mines production is linked to favorable metal prices and tax changes, while Hercules signals an imminent start with evidence of large coal and powder orders at Burke.
Hugh Mabin delivered winter provisions to the Empress on Beaver creek slope near Dudley creek, hauled up Two Mile as road allowed, then packed to the property. A hearing for Eu gene R Day and Mrs. Sarah E Smith to seek a permanent injunction against Hecla Mining officers and directors over ratification of the Bunker Hill agreement to buy the Star mine will be in Spokane County Superior Court on November 21 and is expected to take several days.
H J Hull urged the board of trade to replace wooden shingles with fireproof zinc shingles to curb fire losses and stimulate local zinc mining. He cited Idaho fire data, urged legislative backing for fireproof roofing, and pressed enforcement of motor vehicle laws including jitney parking and speeding near Cedar Street.
