Shoshone County to Get Share of National Forest Receipts

Shoshone County will receive 871,195 from the Coeur d Alene and St Joe national forests for the fiscal year ending June 30 1928. Shares come from one fourth of gross receipts with 69 percent of Coeur d Alene and 87.7 percent of St Joe in county. Funds go to road and school programs with 10 percent reserved for roads and trails.

Wallace residents demand constant pure water supply

For weeks Wallace residents have boiled water awaiting health authorities. They question why the water company cannot install and maintain an approved filtration system to ensure a continuous supply of safe water and prevent future contamination.

Valentine mine work resumes with drift to extend vein

After cutting the vein weeks ago the Valentine company paused underground work for winter. Supplies including explosives and timber are on site. The vein has been exposed four to five feet with oxidized iron and possible lead carbonate ore. Drifting west to east will begin, aiming to reveal ore within 100 feet, per mining engineer E G Gnaedinger. The surface showing is strong and the site lies five miles north of Deborgia Montana.

Copper King Finds New Vein System In Mullan Claim

Copper King Mining Co at Mullan engaged in diamond drilling on unprospected ground. Three holes at 60 and then 45 degrees found vein activity. a new 36 foot wide vein showed 2 to 24 ounces silver and 1 to 6 percent copper. Additional holes extended the vein with strong mineralization and heavy water flow. Company plans crosscuts and patenting of 21 claims.

Patricia Mining Company Eyes Large Scale Development

Patricia Mining Company led by Frank Brooks and A W Sayer of Chicago plans expanded development on two Pine creek claim groups. Brooks reports satisfactory results and aims to secure manul support to finance larger-scale work after an inspection by Mr. Snyder who favorable about financing the project.

Delinquent Sale Held for C. and R Company Assets

The C. and R. delinquent sale occurred yesterday at the company's property with an assessment of 1 cent. Bidders appeared for every certificate offered and the average sale price was around ½ cent.

City votes on bonds for new fire station

A special city election on November 200 will submit a bond request of 35000 to build a modern fire station with city clerk and police magistrate offices and a city jail. Registration is daily at the city clerk’s Cedar Creek office near the fire station and through Saturday evening. Register and vote for modern fire protection.

Moe Mining exhibits ore samples from South Side drift

W. K. Moe, president of Moe Mining, shows gray copper ore samples with siderite and possible silver content from the east drift of the South Side work near the Morning mill. He notes widening veins, a crosscut reach, and a 50 to 400 foot drift extension while predicting deeper development and a probable main ore body near a connecting vein. Torino Mining, led by Joseph Pela, also reports encouraging pioneer work nearby.

Mayo Ships Ore From St. Regis District

Joseph Mayo, a noted Mineral county miner, loads a car of copper gold ore for shipment at St. Regis located near the Little St. Joe. W. W. Shaw of Superior arrived in Wallace and discusses a copper property near Superior with railroad access and potential large tonnage. Shaw seeks winter work at the Callahan site and aims to finance development of his own property.

Pine Creek Extension Urged to Link Pine Greek Mines

The article urges the railroad to extend two to two and a half miles to the forks of White Pine Creek to improve ore shipments from Pine Greek mines and neighboring properties. It notes potential tonnage from Amy-Mateh, Nabob, Constitution, Highland Surprise, Douglas, Sidney and Little Pittsburg, and calls for action by Patrick Burke or the O W T & N company to secure rights of way and funding.

Independent Copper Mining progress on drifting ore vein

Otto A Olsson, secretary of Independent Copper Mining and Milling, reports promising drift progress on a stringer near National workings. The vein, eight inches wide on the east and narrowing west, has widened to over eight inches with occasional galena. Crosscut 800 feet west of upper tunnel shows favorable conditions. officials expect a commercial ore body when drift reaches depth of the best showings.
