Yukon Gold Dredge Murray Goes Down at Murray

The Yukon Gold dredge Murray sank in 25 feet of water early yesterday while idle for annual overhauling. Manager D H Ferry had safety devices and watertight compartments in place but the bow flooding prevented warning. Divers and pumps will be used to raise and repair the craft over about five weeks.

Strike Reported in Na Bob Main Tunnel Ore Find

Early week reports a significant strike in the Na bob main tunnel with about three feet of milling ore. The ore is 220 feet below the Denver ground. tunnel work continues to raise to the ore and ease delivery to the mill.

Bear Creek Mining Buys Delivery Motor Truck

Bear Creek Mining company has purchased a motor truck to haul concentrates from the mine above Murray to the Delta railroad. The truck can make three round trips daily and carry three to four tons per trip. Several stockholders from Hillyard visited the mine this week.

Fire engine tests for Amman Latrance pattern at city trial

The new triple combination fire engine purchased by the city underwent thorough testing under John C. Boyd, Wallace fire department chief, with Mayor Hugh Toole and city officials observing. Tests included a 1000+ gallons per minute stream from placer creek and multiple Cedar street demonstrations, showing strong performance even on a 4 inch main. An altitude test sprayed a stream over the Samuels hotel flagstaff.

Blue Bell Mine Prep to Resume on Big Creek Property

Frank Bland secretary states Blue Bell Mining company plans to resume work this month on 11 claims above Hig Creek forks. The group has about 2000 feet of development, including a deep crosscut, with iron capping suggesting a rich ore body. Recent tunneling near the surface cut the vein about 75 feet below outcrop, indicating a possible north dip. If resumed, operations will follow that theory.

Federal Mining seeks access to Hecla workings in dispute

In Coeur d Alene federal court last Monday the Federal Mining and Smelting company renewed its bid to raise from the Hecla workings to the surface to prove the east Hecla vein apex lies in the Russell claim owned by Federal and under lease to Marsh. Representation included A H Featherstone and Judge Marshall for Federal, with John V Gray and W J Wakefield for Hecla. Maral Mines Consolidated intervenor appeared via McCarthy and Edge. The matter and the intervenor petition are under advisement with a ruling anticipated soon.

Merriam Brothers Expand Spokane Engineering Office

Merriam and Merriam widen their engineering field as KS Merriam opens a Spokane office in the Sherwood block to serve as headquarters while FO Merriam remains in charge of the Wallace office. The move follows KS Merriam's recent mining work and B S Merriam's molybdenum mine leadership at Climax, Colorado for the American Metals company subsidiary.

Caledonia Mining will pay a monthly dividend of one cent per share next Saturday June 5 totaling $26,050. This is the last monthly disbursement as payments shift to a quarterly schedule, announced last month by Stanly A Easton, manager.

Death claims pioneer report first quarter woman of the district

In the Murray area during the past week Miss Anna Coch rane a pioneer of the Coeur d Alene district passed away at 76 Her life centered on grubstaking and developing mining claims before later moving to Wallace where she worked in boarding houses Her death follows a long career tied to mining country and mining promoters Funeral services are planned at Worstell parlors with cremation in Spokane and ashes sent to Michigan The report also covers the first quarter 1920 results of the Consolidated Interstate Callahan Mining company with net shipments value profits and a dividend of 50 cents per share plus details of ore production and milling improvements.

St Lawrence mine work begins near Saltese report

Henry M. Lancaster of Saltene, manager of the St Lawrence Copper Mining Co, was in town. The road to the mine is open to Saltese but the motor truck cannot pass yet, so a team was sent to haul supplies. Underground work may have started. ore is believed to be offset by a large dike. Frank A. Heller reports promising claims near Thompson Falls with veins showing lead, silver, copper and zinc.

M'Kinnis Strikes Oil Near Stevens County Texas Scene

W C Stratton National expert accountant received a photograph and oil sample from Charles McKinnis showing him and others beside an oil rig after striking oil in Stevens county Texas. McKinnis speaks of two other wells expected to come in with good flow. Spokane men including Paulsen Cowles McLaughlin may be involved.

Roberts Wrench to be Made by Kellogg Inventor

F Roberts of Kellogg plans manufacturing the Roberts wrench for use with machine drills. He says Coeur d Alene Hardware & Foundry Co will produce them and market them in a few weeks after a special trip hammer is delivered. Fire at a Morning Boarding House was controlled by Mullan and Federal fire brigades, preventing major damage.

Cedar Creek Mining stockholders set meeting next Monday

Iee men are now employed on the property of the Cedar Creek Mining & Development company. A crosscut has been started from the main tunnel to get under the shaft. Kittrell Coming to Sanders County Mine Visit

W A Kittrell, manager of Vermilion Silver and Lead Mining Co at Vermilion Creek, Sanders County Montana, to visit next Saturday. His son attends school locally and will join his father for vacation at the mine. Vermilion installed a new compressor and looks for a productive summer.
