American Commander strike confirms rich vein at Commander claim
Struck in No 1 tunnel while exploring the vein beneath trenches exposing surface work to east end of Commander claim. Surface shaft to 60 feet shows a cross cut with 12 to 15 feet width, carrying lead and silver. The drift advances about 800 feet with improving ore grade, including 14 percent lead and 7 ounces of silver in a five foot sample. The strike lies 200 to 250 feet deep, with the face about 600 feet from the east end line. Company plans extend drift to east end line before deeper development. Officers include J A Glove, J Gearon, H Marquardt, J I McCormick, and H T Kingsbury.

Ajax Crosscut Strikes Ore Stringer Near Vein

Half Million Dollars Spent in Mullan Section in 1923

The county total to date reaches about $2,500,000, with remaining North Side and St Joe figures due next week.

Stratton Mines first ore shipment nets $49.69 per ton
Stratton Mines reports 51,889 dry pounds about 26 tons sent to East Helena plant of American Smelting and Refining. Shipment valued at 740 cents per pound lead and 64% cents per ounce silver, netting $1197.55 or $49.69 per ton. Ore extended as drift develops with continuous high grade, timbering completed and a raise begun to open a new stope for deeper mining.

Rainbow Mining Plans Big Development Near Shields Gulch
Rainbow Mining and Milling president George Austin outlined an extensive development plan for 21 claims along four veins near Shields Gulch, five miles long. The work includes a crosscut tunnel reaching the Argentine vein at about 700 feet and the Galena at 1600 feet, with a portable compressor, water power from a Rainbow water right, a 2000 foot flume and a temporary blacksmith shop to run through winter.

Pearson Mine Rise in Coeur d'Alenes as Bridegroom Returns
Arky Pearson vice president of Pearson Mining Co returned from St Paul and plans at once to develop the St Joe copper belt property near Wallace. He recently married Miss Eulalie Pearson and expects to split time between the mine and St Paul. The company has consolidated 50 claims and located the Pearson vein by diamond drilling showing 17 and 16 feet widths with copper and gold values. Crosscutting proceeds at four feet per day, within sixty days reaching the vein and enabling new permanent development plans. A fresh vein ground on nine claims shows a strong ore body with surface widths of four feet, enriched copper and gold assays up to 15 percent copper and $14 gold. The new ground will host permanent operations and be nearer rail, water power, and equipment. Dam construction to secure water for power is underway.
