Sister Mine Ships Third Carload of Ore from Canyon Creek
Leasers of the Sister mine about a mile and a half above Wallace on Canyon Creek shipped the third carload of ore, consigned to the Bunker Bill smelter. The ore yields about 36 percent lead with roughly an ounce of silver per unit of lead, plus considerable fine, for which miners receive no return and may incur penalties. The Sister lies near the wagon road, a few hundred yards from a Northern Pacific sidetrack. Leasers listed include Bo Roberts, A. G. Kennedy, Sam Hammer, Victor Turnquist, Amos ena, and Dan Murphy. The crosscut under contract by North Star Mining & Development Co is expected to reach the vein in about 20 feet, with favorable rock for ore. North Star is on Nine Mile near Black Cloud.

Brass for Sale Nearing War Department Announcement
The War Department will soon announce disposition of 56,000,000 pounds of brass after 50 bids. Brass, a copper zinc alloy, would yield about 19,000,000 pounds zinc and 37,000,000 pounds copper. Large brass stocks have challenged copper producers amid rain and slow remelting of both new and junk metal. European relief workers note women can live longer than men without food.
