Copper Exports to Germany Dominate First Ten Months
Copper exports from the United States through October show Germany receiving more than a third of all shipments, with 185 million pounds of 194 million pounds sent to Germany. Including Holland clearances, Middle Europe totals exceed 200 million pounds. France and Great Britain remain below Germany’s combined take, while Japan’s exports are about half of last year’s. Copper sales for the month just closed were the year’s largest, with 160 to 170 million pounds contracted, as major producers withdraw from the market awaiting higher prices.
