Ajax Sunk on Ore From Lower Level in Local Mine

The Ajax mine’s lower level winge reaches 95 feet with ore showing continuous vein to 120 feet and a 65 foot section containing a foot of commercial ore and quartz. Manager Bixby reports favorable results and plans a small station at 100 feet to follow the vein in the hanging wall for a likely larger ore body.

Eldorado Mining Directors Fill Vacancy and Appoint Manager

Eldorado Mining and Smelting Company directors met Tuesday evening to fill the board vacancy created by Charles Peterson of Rosalia Washington. J P Waddell of Rose Lake was elected to the board and Dr RB Lundy of Eldorado was chosen manager. Lundy is a major stockholder with mining experience. Work on the property near Kel Jorg on the north bank of the river continues as drifting under contract to F J Edwards.

Embree to Defend Wobblies Leader in Idaho Trial

Giant Mining and Development Elects Directors at Meeting

At the annual stockholders meeting in this city last Saturday evening, Paul Liver reported and the board approved continued development. Directors elected: Liver Turk Malacrida Davis, all from Wallace, and Rechsteiner from Portland. Liver named president with Rechsteiner as vice president and Turk as secretary-treasurer. The Sunset-area property shows a crosscut near a vein, with promising ore indications as mining progress continues.

Omaha Plant Restored and Underground Work Resumes

The Omaha group, owned by August Vaulven of Spokane and developed under O B Olvon, has its new compressor and machine shop building rebuilt after a lightning strike. Electrical connections are in place and underground work is ready to resume. The original four claims lie south of Hecla, with a year ago acquisition of Albany Mining company holdings enlarging the southward ground.

Joplin Smelting Man Sees Hope for Zinc Future

Starr of Joplin, visiting Wallace from Spokane, discussed zinc plants, open shop goals, and union battles. He expects demand for zinc to improve within six months, aided by export rates normalization and a St Louis zinc campaign. He noted gains in using zinc and optimism about new uses beyond current metal applications.

U. S. Silver Lead Company Officials Visit Mine Scene

A. M. Nash and C. J. Diebel toured the Eagle creek property of the United States Silver Lead Mines company. Nash reported satisfactory progress as crews work a hard Thurke quartzite crosscut. He estimates 35 more feet to reach the vein at roughly 185 feet depth, where a rich high grade tend-silver ore is showing.

The Bryan mine strike near Big Bryan in the East Coeur d Alene district marks a major development. Charles Burns and R Day own the claim. a Swedish worker’s diligence revealed seven feet of milling ore with high silver values in the lower tunnel, signaling a long ore shoot and potential shipments from the intermediate tunnel and beyond.
