The Sun prints Gov Hendricks message urging a special session to reconcile Senate and House differences on revenue and general appropriation bills. It outlines anticipated 1875 76 expenditures, calls for temporary borrowing, and seeks fair officer compensation and liquor-sale regulation plans.
The speaker urges a carefully guarded license law to reflect the people’s will and notes a Supreme Court ruling limiting Sunday and election day liquor sales. The special session is needed briefly to fix these defects, avoid home travel, and ensure business progress. The Auditor is instructed not to pay mileage for nonactual travel, only constructive travel if challenged.

A proposal from Andreas Baskin and Bure of Chicago to publish a comprehensive Indiana Atlas. The project includes county maps, road and rail lines, streams, schools, churches, and biographical sections, plus six maps of Indiana and sixteen maps of the United States with agricultural and demographic data. The work aims for 1875 completion if funded.
