A Joplin man Mr J C Temple and his thirteen year old son Otto with an English companion Wilson set out from Joplin on February 28 in a sun bronzed dusty trek toward the centennial. They planned to haul fifty pounds of mineral specimens from Jasper county's Oronggo and Joplin mining company to the event. The wheelbarrow outfit weighed 150 pounds with luggage and specimens and cost $135.
