Southeastern Education Association Holds Midwestern Meeting
About 150 teachers attended the Southeastern Education Association gathering at the Commercial club rooms with Prof. Morris Johnson Valley City as president and W E Hoover Fargo as vice president. The two day program featured lectures by Supt O J Kern and Prof C B Waldron on rural schools and country life, plus music and readings from Wahpeton and Fairmount performers. The next meeting is planned for spring in Valley City under Supt Minnie J Nielsen.

City council called to order by Mayor Eberly to discuss electric power for the water plant and other business. Aldermen Forkner Hess Fredericks Robinson Woves Gillen Peschel present. They approved payment of Northern Light Electric Co bill for October and instructed the water works superintendent to canvass all water consumers and list water connections and their condition. The meeting adjourned.

Elliott's watch stolen in Fargo during hotel stay
Howard Elliott, president of Northern Pacific, found his gold watch and other valuables missing from a Gardner hotel apartment after a private bath. Police suspected a bell boy, with Elliott reporting the loss only after preparing for bed. The watch was a family heirloom, and a substantial amount of money was also gone. Elliott and party had arrived on No. 5 and left on the Southwestern line.

J J Peitz sold his hotel property in Forman to Chas Hoffman in part payment for Hoffman's Hankinson residence. A drill rig on the Alex Jacobson farm north of Delamere struck a 14 foot vein of hard coal, clogging the bit. The find will be studied and mined. coal appears lignite-like and coarse. Services postponed by a storm. Thanksgiving services set for 11 am with Methodist and Congregational churches inviting all.
