Hankinson Scribes Report Local Happenings and Baseball Wins

Claude Hankinson took the hog train to Minneapolis this week while Walter Green visited Missouri. John Hutton arrived for a few days with his brother Bill. Emma Heins left News staff for Grawe's store. Anne Radford also left millinery work. Mrs. George Carr died after a long illness. Hankinson beat River Rate 28 to 4 in baseball with notable base running. Kinney Hein Kunert Green took a pickerel trip to White Rock and displayed fish. Nulph party fished Lake Traverse with a long string of fish and a joke with neighbors. Wipperman Mercantile begins a new building with old Glasner piece moved to rear. Hankinson and Wyndmere opened a baseball series. Hankinson won 8 to 7 after a late rally and Kelsey’s pitching.

Wahpeton Methodist Episcopal Church led by Rev. E O Eldridge holds Sunday services at 10 30 am and 8 pm with a sermon by Rev Elmer Gallagher at the Congregational Union Memorial. Wahpeton Juniors Defeat Fairmount in Opening Baseball Game

Wahpeton Juniors opened the 1907 season with a 38 to 2 victory over the Fairmount Juniors last Saturday. Pitcher Youngquist dazzled with six strikeouts and two runs allowed, while Allen pitched for Fairmount with Oliver and Hurley handling the field. Umpire Wallace Mordon called seven innings as the home team showcased strong team work despite errors, setting a brisk pace for the season ahead.
