New Automobile License Law Explained for Motor Vehicles

P D Norton secretary of state outlines the new motor vehicle law in tabloid form. Owners must file a sworn registration application with name, address, description, manufacturer, factory number and model with a $3.00 annual fee. The secretary issues two metal plates and records details. duplicates cost $1.00 if lost. Buyer must notify within ten days when selling a registered vehicle. Law also covers motorcycles and governs speed limits in various zones. Penalties include fines up to 50 and possible jail. funds support county road maintenance.

Pioneer settler Herman Bergmann dies at 84

Herman Bergmann Sr a Norwood pioneer born in Jusseldorf Germany in 1827 died at his home May 19 1911 at 9 30 am of heart failure aged 84 years 10 days He came to America in 1854 settled near Norwood lived in St George and Minneapolis with an eight child family Funeral held Monday at 1 pm Rev Ochoner officiated Pallbearers were his six sons Gerhard Henry Fred William Jacob and August. Memorial Day Observance Altered by Rainy Weather

The Memorial Day program was moved to side walk parading due to muddy streets. A parade formed at Sixth Street, marched to the river, and returned to the opera house with units including S.S. Band, Company I, Firemen, G A R, W B C, Boy Scouts, and students. Speakers included Supt. Wigger, Hon. Chas. E. Wolfe, and Pres. Smith. Arthur Pordon delivered Lincoln at Gettysburg. solos by Rhoda Stenersen and Gladys Albrecht. Schuler’s second graders performed The Bird Cantata. audience sang America.
