A Tuesday night contest saw the School of Science De teams split results with one victory and one defeat. Local rivals competed across events, highlighting close finishes and emerging talents within the program.
Crowds attended as Crookston Agricultural Team faced the State Science School in a debate on naval strength. The affirmative argued for U S naval buildup while the negative challenged immediate expansion, with judged unanimous for the State Science team. Judges included Senator Purcell L E Jones and Supt Hoover.
The Breckenridge Wahpeton Street Railway Company moved 4700 fewer passengers in January than a year earlier, as saloon closures under County Option impacted ridership. Patrons are invited to inspect the new Wahpeton post office building during an open house. The event is scheduled for Saturday with activities from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The holiday timing allows local residents to visit and review facilities before regular service resumes.
Citizens should attend the City Caucus on Tuesday evening March 4 at 8 o'clock at City Hall to nominate a mayor and four aldermen for the regular city election on March 24. The election coincides with the Presidential Primary. voters will cast two ballots. Names of candidates and whether officials seek reelection are not known yet. coverage next week will report expressions. Good turnout is urged as caucus promotes civic participation.
W Sehmaltz a well known farmer of Haynes state purchased about a year ago a 30 acre farm. He broke and seeded 20 acres to flax and from the stop which he has just sold realized enough to pay for the 80 acre and the breaking of the 20 acres at the rate 4 an acre.
Judge Andrew Grindeland presided over a naturalization ceremony at Thiet River Falls as eight new Americans received silk flags. The judge spoke of patriotism and the significance of the flag, noting all new citizens in northwestern Minnesota would be presented with a silk flag upon taking the oath.
Heavy rain kept turnout low for a mass meeting on the proposed Equity Packing Plant. Speakers discussed site choice, costs, and benefits, with Wahpeton proposed as a location. Delegates will visit Minot to learn more before a second mass meeting is called.
