Shooting of United States Attorney C A Jones
Charles A Jones United States District Attorney for Nevada was shot through the head and killed at Dr Guinan's Nevada home by Julian Gainat 16, who fired from a window with a Marlin rifle. The shot occurred as Jones walked with James Dennis toward Chinatown after dining with Jones at the Ormsby House. Dennis reported seeing Guinan approach and then the fatal shot. Guinan declared he was not armed. The coroner's jury saw no weapon on the body. a later confession placed the blame with the involved doctor’s actions and denial.
