Murphy Method trains conductors with color video tests
Cincinnati Southern Railway adopts the Murphy Method for examination and instruction of train service personnel. It uses colorized lantern slides and moving yard scenes to replace yarn samples, with daylight and night scenes to simulate real conditions. Superintendent Murphy is credited with first installing the method, with mechanical instruction to follow.
