Olinghouse Mines District Emerges As Rich Yet Deceptive
The Olinghouse mining district, north east of Rene, shows a network of ledges and placers in a canyon with 76 claims. W C Williams discovered key ledges and the camp has produced about 30000 dollars in little more than two years. Ledges vary in material and width, with gold in quartz and placer deposits, water is sufficient for domestic use and limited stamping. The camp now hosts twenty five miners living in well appointed cabins and connected by dense local trade and daily papers.
