Valley Farm Workers plan an 11 a.m. Sunday rally on the Capitol steps in Austin to demand a 1.25 dollar minimum wage. Organizer Eugene Nelson announced the final plans after a meeting of the Valley Farm Workers Assistance Committee. The 400 mile march began on Independence Day in Rio Grande City and will reach St. Edward's University Sunday afternoon. Governor Connally said he will not meet them.
About 700 Baylor University students are slated to attend the annual pre-school retreat September 9 11 at Baylor Recreation Camp. Sponsored by the Baptist Student Union the event aims to show Baylor as a religiously oriented university. Roy Harrell says around 400 will participate in the full program and about 300 will join at least some activities.

The Waco-McLennan County Library Bookmobile will begin operation in Mart and McGregor on Tuesday and Wednesday September 6 and 7, 1966. The large four and one half ton unit will arrive around noon in each community to start the service.

The first meeting of the Waco McLennan County Community Shelter Plan Advisory Council and Technical Committee convened at 7 30 P M on August 25 in Waco City Hall. Wm D Ringo welcomed members and outlined Civil Defense goals as Major Rufus J Cleghorn presented the Cuban crisis film One Week in October and introduced council and committee members. Glenn Whatley announced staff and introduced Leon Byrd and Carol Ann Clabay after voting.
