Dr Carl Friedman, psychiatrist and neurologist practicing in Waco since 1946, will discuss Emotional Maturity in the Modern Business Environment at a May 24 Rocketdyne McGregor Management Club meeting. He served with the U S Army Medical Corps during World War II and earned his M D from New York University in 1938. He will be introduced by Dr George W Berry who chairs Providence Hospital Medical Staff and serves Rocketdyne McGregor Plant. The May program starts at 6 p m at Ridgewood Country Club in Waco.
Beverly Hills launches a dog vaccination drive on Saturday May 21 from 2 to 5 pm. Dr. Harry Pelot will operate at the Beverly Hills Volunteer Fire Department near Memorial Drive and the Veterans Hospital. Fee is 3.00 per dog, vaccination tag included.
Pecan growers should spray from May 17 to May 23 to control pecan nut casebearers. The larva feeds under leaf axis buds before boring into pecans, often hollowing two to three nuts per cluster. Proper timing and thorough coverage with long residual sprays like DDT or Sevin are crucial for effective control.

Warren Covington and his orchestra will perform at the Shriners Spring formal dance on Saturday May 21 in the Karem Shrine Temple ballroom from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Tables for four seven or eight couples sold as units with advance tickets. The event, exclusive to Shriners and wives, aims for a large crowd in Karem Shrine Temple's entertainment history.

Parkdale Elementary School schedules summer enrichment for about 275 pupils from June 6 to July 15 with two programs. Della S Whatley will administer 11 teachers and 150 students in enrichment while Weldon Teaque leads 6 teachers and 125 students in improvement. An extended remedial program serves 600 of 900 remedial readers across R L Smith and Sul Ross, with 20 teachers per school plus specialized staff. Head Start classes host 525 children at multiple sites. Max Simpson oversees a kindergarten program running 8 am to 1 30 pm with two nurses and two counselors aiding 31 teachers and aides to boost health and learning.
The May-June term grand jury indicted Fred Toome as an habitual criminal tied to the Joy Lounge attempted burglary. It returned two indictments against Lt. O Scott for receiving and concealing stolen goods. Eleven of twelve indictments were disposed of, including one for murder by M Hancock.
District Attorney Don Hall states two 16 year old boys David Rodriguez and Mario Martinez are charged with murder with malice in the death of 26 year old Rudy Tijerina last Saturday night. They will be tried after turning 17, currently out on $1500 bonds each.
A Saturday ceremony at the Scottish Rite Centennial Seminar launched a foundation to build the Lee Lockwood Scottish Rite Library and Museum on Waco Drive. Dallas leader John McKee presented a $200,000 check on Lockwood’s behalf, noting the lack of such a library in the Southern Jurisdiction and its potential as a public educational monument. Dr. Abner V. McCall reported on the Committee of 100’s proposals and plans for 1967 centennial events for seven Scottish Rite valleys in Texas.
The Texas Safety Association urges Texans to join the New 1966 National Drivers Test. The color program will air on CBS Tuesday May 24 at 9 p.m. CST and aims to familiarize licensed drivers with defensive driving techniques.
The Waco Independent School District held a regular meeting with past board members in attendance led by Judge H. M. Richey. Transfers for two families were denied citing hardship and distance. budget work for next year begins, Title I funds approved, and bids for papers, instruments, and band uniforms awarded or adjusted.
Officers from the Waco chapter inspect a motor boat at Koehne Park before launch. A. H. Manus of West owns the boat and Norman Barr plans to ride. The group works without pay, uses a decal system, and aims to cover all lake landings this summer.
A Waco Singing Convention will be held Sunday afternoon at 1 30 May 22 at the Church of Christ on 9th and Clay. Carl McGinty is in charge. all are invited.
Gholson Water Supply Corporation will receive a loan of 154000 dollars to build a water system north of Waco serving 117 families, announced by Congressman W R Poage in a telegram to the News Citizen.
The Robinson Chamber of Commerce and local groups seek community volunteers for Youngblood Park upgrades. Projects include a new Lions Pool opening May 30 1966 and a ceremonial May 28 Chamber building opening, with a lighted Little League diamond planned for the season. Al Bracken district manager of the Waco Social Security Office urged seniors 65 and over who have not signed up for doctor bill insurance to contact the Waco Social Security Office immediately to ensure protection when Medicare coverage begins July 1 1966.
