Downtown patrols shift from meter maids to officers

Police on tricycle motorcycles are told to stop all red meters during downtown rounds. The change joins a prior practice where meter maids handled this task. Residents are asked if anyone has seen a meter maid recently.

Dr. Chester R. Hastings announced that McLennan Community College invites fall admissions for day and evening classes. Eligible graduates of accredited high schools can apply, others may be admitted by special approval. Applicants should request transcripts and send ACT scores for counseling use. The McLennan County Red Cross Chapter marks its 50th year with its annual meeting May 20 at 7 30 P M in the U S Naval Reserve Training Center. Burglars Hit Four Waco Sites Amid Ongoing Thefts

Burglars struck three businesses and a church in Waco this week. At B F Goodrich Co on Austin Avenue two plate glass windows were smashed and three portable TVs were taken. City Tire & Battery Co saw two TVs stolen. Cupps Drive In and Market Place Cafe also burglarized for cigarettes. First Baptist Church nursery window was broken and office ransacked with trophies and photos torn. police found clues but nothing missing so far.
