Ringo Pushes Rezone Clash Over Waco North Fourth Property
Waco city planning director Durwood Ringo seeks to overturn a planning board decision and rezone North Fourth Street property from commercial to residential. Six city council members would need five votes, unlikely, as residents defend the current commercial zoning. The piece notes broader zoning debates tied to the Master Plan and local public works.

Providence Hospital as City of Care in 1947
Providence Hospital operates 24 hours a day with nurses and staff to protect and restore health, paralleling city services. Hospital visits rose from 27.2 million outpatient visits in 1945 to 95.4 million in 1965, driven by advanced techniques and personnel needs, with wage growth narrowing the gap with industry. Sister Austin notes two nurse raises planned, yet overall costs and care advances imply higher future hospital costs despite price levels.
