The piece notes general city elections in Waco and suburbs with few contested council seats and growing interest in Southwest Waco. It discusses police ticket quotas, leadership orders, and public reactions including praise for police and calls for fair enforcement without intimidation. At the February 1 1962 special meeting the School Board directed reorganizing business operations and reassigning personnel to create training paths for a future senior role. Recommendations to establish a record of equipment and supplies were repeated by independent auditors, but staffing delays prevented immediate start.

Beverly Hills rebuilt the street a year ago, and a related mandamus suit by Beverly Hills City Attorney Claude Segrest sought sewer service access under a 25 year Waco agreement.
Baylor University President Abner McCall laughed off an effigy hanging near Waco Hall. Police said the display included a casket and statue of Judge Baylor and likely involved students upset by a recent constitutional amendment defeat.
The American Legion Post 440 and Auxiliary celebrate at 2412 Speight Street dedicating the new building and marking the post’s 25th anniversary since storming February 15, 1939. Dedicatory remarks by Judge Frank G McDonald honor James E Robinson, with state and district auxiliary leaders in attendance.
The so called lucky leak in Waco was explained as an accident and coincidence. Baylor theater publicists and city officials denied vandalism or a press stunt. Miss MacArthur noted possible suspicion toward Gene McKinney but provided no proof.
Judge Charles Routine Jr. sentenced Duane Raulston to 15 and 5 year terms to run concurrently for his role in the December assault that left Fime Andy Anderson seriously injured. Three Fort Hood soldiers assisted in the beating. the others are already serving time. Police work led to the capture.
Two Waco families report their children fled the town after what they call undeserved traffic police actions. A Baylor junior plans to transfer to Texas Tech after receiving multiple moving violation tickets, three felt malicious. The daughter left for Dallas for a construction job after rides from police led to mounting tickets. A third family notes their child also left as PAS traffic enforcement appears to push residents away.
Mc Lennan County producers learn that tested cattle show TB incidence under one half of one percent, ending testing for commercial herds. Registered and dairy herds will still be tested, with notices from veterinarians guiding owners. About 20 000 cattle have been tested in the county campaign that began in October 1961, well short of the anticipated 40 000.
Major General Thomas S. Bishop of Austin Adjutant General of Texas will address the Waco Lions Club at the Raleigh Hotel on Wednesday March 14. He began in the 36th Infantry Division as a private in 1934 and rose to Major General, serving as Chief of Staff and Assistant Division Commander of the 56th Division and as former Assistant Adjutant General of Texas. Governor Price Daniel named him Adjutant General on January 1 this year. Bishop holds 24 decorations and a noted World War II combat record, commanding all Texas National Guardsmen in his post.
Crime continues with numerous break ins around Waco including taverns and residences. Arrests and convictions occur, but thefts persist as sheriff deputies handle county incidents in Mart and on highways.
Rev. A. C. Lane and County Commissioner Ray Berry departed this week for a 17 day overseas tour visiting London Cairo Rome Jerusalem Germany and other destinations.
