Storage Space Purchase for Brazos River Watershed

The U S Corps of Engineers proposes two reservoir storage spaces to trap flood waters for future urban and industrial water supplies. The Authority will buy the storage capacity for 11.5 million dollars, repaid over sixty years by selling water to industries and towns.

New Public Relations Firm For Downtown Waco Unlimited

Downtown Waco Unlimited names J and J Copy Shop as its public relations partner. Mrs Jeane Cook and Mrs June Der Garabedian head the firm and will run all promotion from 228 Liberty Building. Cook brings extensive advertising background including World War II wartime work and leadership in the Waco Advertising Club. Der Garabedian, trained in drama and advertising, returns from Dallas to freelance with her sister.

Democratic Women Host Open House For New Members In Waco

Democratic Women of McLen nan County announce an Open House to honor new and prospective members January 26 from 7 to 9 p m at Town Hall in Waco Lake Air Center. Chair man Mrs William Templer reports progress on the membership drive and guests may pay pot tax. Newly elected officers will greet attendees and assume duties.

Nash Oliver Enters Race for Judge Court at Law

Nash Oliver, longtime McLennan County legal figure, enters the race for justice of the peace, precinct 1, place 2. Former assistant district attorney and 10 year justice of the peace, he previously served two terms as county court at law judge and now seeks election to the justice court. He lives with his wife Thelma McBride at 3004 Live Oak Avenue and urges countywide support.

Coleman Receives Waco Distinguished Service Award

Herman Coleman, 32, vice president at National City Bank in Waco, receives the 1961 Distinguished Service Award from the Waco Junior Chamber of Commerce for civic and banking contributions. Born in Waxahachie, he studied at Baylor, joined Dallas National Bank, then moved to Waco in 1956 rising to vice president by 1960. he is married to Sandra Mayfeld.
