The Cooper Foundation approves a grant not to exceed 14500 to the City of Waco for a comprehensive survey of Waco Municipal Airport and a Master Plan to guide development through 1980. Forrest & Cotton Inc to conduct the study with Army Corps of Engineers and City of Waco support. work to begin in ten days and wrap in four months.
A sequence of obituaries recalls Seaver B Spencer Sr 82 dying after a heart attack at a supper club. Arthur J Jewell 76 house mover. W F E Kudelka 74 found dead at home with funeral at St Marys Church. James Monore Barron 81 former police chief and later detective and appliance dealer.
Tactical Air Command reports a squadron of F-100 Super Sabres from England AFB Louisiana arrived in Spain for a routine overseas deployment. The 40th Tactical Fighter Wing and 401st Squadrons participate in the move with KC-135 in-flight refueling from SAC, a practice proven in tests.
A M Goldstein announced this week he is drafted to run for the Southwest Waco ward city council seat. He recalls serving on the council in 1932-33 during Waco's difficult period and says he has long been active in civic affairs, though he did not reveal which interests induced his candidacy.
Captain Sam J. Gardner of the Waco District Highway Patrol released a yearly rural traffic accident summary showing a decrease in rural motorcides in 1960 despite rising highway use.
