Resignment Changes 12th AF Bases
General Walter C. Sweeney Jr announced a realignment of United States Air Force Tactical Air Command forces. Effective January 1 1962 Regular Reserve and Air National Guard units will be assigned to TACs numbered Air Forces by geography. Ninth Air Force Shaw AFB S C will govern the eastern third and Twelfth Air Force Waco Texas the western two thirds. The plan reduces geographic areas of TAC responsibility and aims for faster, cheaper communications and administration. Major General Karl Truesdell Jr commands Twelfth Air Force and Major General Richard T Coiner Jr commands Ninth Air Force.

Ministers Install New Officials at Waco Meeting
New officers of the Waco Ministerial Association were installed at the annual YMCA banquet. Rey Marvin Griffin of New Hope Baptist Church was named secretary, Luke Bolin of Lakewood Christian as president, Paul Kluge Sr. of Zion United Church of Christ as vice president, and Hubert Youn of Calvary Baptist as treasurer. Dr. Joe Weldon Batley of Columbus Avenue Baptist conducted the installation as outgoing president.

Police Vehicle Totaled In Early Morning Crash
A police car driven by Officer E. E. January sustained almost total wreckage after colliding at 26th and Colcord with a 1953 Chevrolet driven by Robert L. Henderson of 612 Bishop Drive. Henderson's mother Maggie Henderson, 65, was injured and treated at Hillcrest hospital. January injured a hand. Henderson car damage about $200.

Waco Beauty Starts Tour As Maid of Cotton
Penne Percy born in Waco and 1962 Maid of Cotton begins an eight month Cotton industry tour after winning over 22 contestants from 12 states. Her first show was New Year’s Day at the Cotton Bowl Dallas and she will be fitted for a cotton wardrobe in New York. Her mother was a finalist in 1941 representing Mississippi. Parents James and 3311 Castle Drive attended finals in Memphis with her sisters. She attended Waco High and Baylor Theater and is a UT sophomore majoring in radio and television. Wait and See remains her plan for next year.
