New Year resolutions focus on Model Cities and four Urban Renewal projects in Waco. Data for January to September 1963 show 123980 more individual travelers entering Mexico from Texas than in the same period of 1962. The increase reflects growing cross border movement during the year.
The U S Army Corps of Engineers Southwestern Division in Dallas forecasts about 200 million dollars in new construction contracts for 1968 to expand water resources in the Southwest. Most work will occur in Tulsa and Little Rock Districts with major Arkansas River navigation and Red River basin projects.
W. J. McAnelly Jr is named region attorney for Humble Oil and Refining in the Western Marketing Region succeeding R D Lower who moves to Humble Headquarters Law Department in Houston. About 400 women attended a Pan American Union luncheon in Washington where The Woman's Division for HemisFair '68 was spotlighted. Rosita Fernandez and Mariachis Benjamin Valdez and Chepe Solis performed in authentic Mexican costumes, lending San Antonio flair. The San Antonio Chamber of Commerce organized the Mariachi Lobby in Washington.
