State Legion Commander Here Monday Installation

The James A. Edmond post 121 will install its officers on August 4 at 6 30 PM at the post home. State commander William G Nami of Cuero will perform the installation with guests including the 121 Northern Jr Teen Age ball team and coaches. The post will present life membership cards to old timers and a barbecue supper will follow, served by unit 121 auxiliary for families of members and invited guests only.

Auxiliary Joins Legion Installation

A joint dinner and installation will be held Monday evening with the Legion and Auxiliary at Post 121. District President Mrs Henry Rodriguez will install officers.

Jaycees Host 4th Annual State Softball Tournament

The Waco Jaycees host 20 Texas Jaycee clubs for the 4th Annual State Softball Tournament at Lake Air Little League complex. Ennis Duncanville Bastrop Terrell Gatesville Nederland Baytown Hillsboro New Braunfels Lufkin Pasadena Temple Manskfield Mart Ft. Worth McGregor Bellmead compete. Games begin 8:00 Saturday, continuing to the State Championship Sunday. Project Chairman Ken Graves invites public attendance.

Teen Age Jury Proposed in Waco Court Plan

The city of Waco may form a Teen Age jury system in the corporation court. The McLennan County Youth Council and the Waco Chamber of Commerce presented the recommendations on Wednesday to seek approval.

Waco Hosts Area IV Summer Jaycee Convention

Waco welcomes about a thousand Jaycees and wives for the Area IV Summer Convention and State Jaycee Softball Tournament August 12 13. State leaders Art Hoern and A J Carrubi attend. events include sessions at KC Hall and Holiday Inn with clinics led by local and regional officers.

P R To Operate Teen Centers For Two Weeks

The Waco Parks and Recreation Department will run two after school teen centers for ages 14 and up at Tennyson Jr High and Moore High from August 10 for two weeks. Centers run 7 to 10 PM Monday through Friday with leaders named for each site and activities including table games sports and recreational events for teens.

Waco Chamber of Commerce directors plan a survey of how other cities fund auditorium and convention centers as they map a path to a center opening in 1970. McLennan Hosts Nurse Specialist Conference On Degree Program

McLennan Community College nursing department hosted Mrs. Lillian Keith a nurse with a master’s from the University of Maryland and director of the William Buchanan Department of Nursing Texarkana College. Her Texarkana program was among Texas first two year RN programs and is NLN accredited. A MCC luncheon at Hillcrest Hospital honored her with hospital staff representatives in attendance.

Shrine Circus At Dutton Street Park This Week

The Karem Shrine circus returns to Dutton Street Park on Thursday August 17 and Friday August 18 with a Saturday 19 matinee at 2 30 pm. Clyde Bros International Circus headlines the show with adults at one dollar and children half price.

Ceremonial for Shriners Planned by Karem Temple

A stag outing was held Thursday evening by Karem Temple Shriners at Syrian Club. A full form ceremonial will be held at Karem Temple Saturday with Wimp Seley potentate. Registration starts at 9 am and again at 2 pm. Other events will fill the day for Shriners.

Man Charged With Burglary and Forgery in Local Case

Harvey Don Christian is free on an $8,000 bond after being charged with burglary at Brazos Concrete Products Inc. He allegedly stole an IBM typewriter and other office equipment and forged a $71.45 check. Deputy Bramlett and Detective January investigated the case. More than 25 million Americans are former 4-H Club members, including many leaders.

25th Street Chamber of Commerce Sets New Advertising Plan

At a regular meeting the 25th Street Chamber of Commerce voted to run a monthly advertising page in the Citizen. Members will post ads under a shared heading with listings by category and non members will be invited to join. The group aims to promote 25th street welfare and has funded a Northwest Junior League team and distributed 300 and 100 in 25th street dollars at Christmas and Easter. Members enjoy free breakfast at 7 am.

Harding Forms Flubb A Dub Recording Company

Chuck Harding and associates charter a Texas recording and publishing firm named Flubb A Dub Recording Publishing Company Inc. Other principals include Jerry Dyke Doug Krolczyk and Oneda Harding. The firm plans a Battle of the Bands contest at Westview Village on its 10th anniversary starting August 24 with about 10 bands competing for 100 dollars.
