Lawman Fight Leads to Drunk Arrest in McDaniel Case

At about 3 30 am Saturday Bobby George McDaniel 22 fought a Waco officer and was booked on a drunk charge after a confrontation. He refused fingerprinting and was bloodied. Bond set at 15 dollars. Attorney Martin Eichelberger entered not guilty plea. Trial moved from December 16 to August 12 with jury called. Chief Gunterman ordered officers to arrest known thieves on sight. Five youths were jailed with McDaniel. others released. Police sought additional juvenile suspects linked to recent thefts and assaults.

Aggravated Assault Charge For Fight With Police

Frank Johnson described by police as a dangerous Negro man was booked on an aggravated assault charge after a confrontation with two Waco policemen. Waco to Become Hub of Air Service

Waco is slated to be a hub of air service with 14 daily flights in four directions. Exhibits filed with the Chamber of Commerce by the Civil Aeronautics Board advance the plan as part of the Southwestern Area Local Service Airline case set for hearings on September 27. Texans Vote On Four Constitutional Amendments

The November 8 1960 ballot will include four proposed constitutional amendments. Amendment one would authorize a Hospital District for Lamar Hidalgo and part of Comanche County. Record High Budget Plan For 1960 41 School System

Trustees received a record high budget for the school system totaling 6 009 640 dollars for 1960 41. The board is expected to approve next month with little change, financed by a 1.55 tax rate. The rate is 15 cents per 100 valuation lower than 1959 60, yet more money will be raised due to district valuations rising from 173 million to 204 million and natural growth.
