Injured In Rural Car Crash Near Swea City
Miss Viola Kock of Estherville sustained bad cuts to her right arm and leg when a Ford coupe she rode in crashed into a telephone pole three and a quarter miles east of Swea City on Road No. 9. Driver Raymond Newby says steering failure caused the accident. the pole broke off and drove into the bank. First aid was given at the Godden home, then Dr. Guy Anderson treated her wounds in Swea City before they returned to Estherville.

The Sioux City city won a civil suit brought by engineer Gaynor who claimed 15 000 for breach of paying plans contract on paving and gutter work. Gaynor had drawn the plans and was paid 500. After two trials a jury returned a verdict for the city and against Gaynor Estherville attorney D R Alexander and Purdy of Sioux City prosecuted for Gaynor while J W Morse and Francis Kennedy defended the city.
