Baldwin Inaugurates New Methodist Pipe Organ

Dr Minor Baldwin of New York City gave inaugural recitals at Estherville’s new Methodist Episcopal church, praising the Katey & Co. instrument from Brattleboro Vermont. The 567-pipe organ with pneumatic action costs $2,200 and features a rich tonal palette including Diapason and Salicional stops. Baldwin opened with Bach, followed by a gentler self arrangement and a vocal solo by Mrs. Morse, with further pieces and an improvised variation. The second concert emphasized popular program items, including The Storm in the Mountains, which drew strong applause and support from local organizers who financed the organ.
