Route carrier travels miles by road since 1901

The traveler has covered about 225000 miles on a route begun in 1901, enough to circle the world 11 times. Early years required a full day for the 35 mile trip, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., but in recent years it takes 3 hours 40 minutes. About 79 percent of the route is graveled and a faster auto will shorten the trip further.
