Exaggerated oat yields blamed for price slump says Iowa farmer

Hugh H. Shepard of Mason City argues that claims of 80 bushel oat yields are false and that averages range 30 to 45 bushels. He blames board of trade gamblers for using inflated figures to push prices down. He advises farmers to hold grain until markets improve. Also notes Iowa archaeological survey findings with widespread visits since 1922 revealing numerous prehistoric sites and artifacts. The state fair reported 11,436 autos inside and about 1,000 outside. Missouri led with 180 cars among outside states.
