Children Placed in Emmet County Homes by Aid Society
Miss C K Comstock and Miss A I Hill of New York arrived in Estherville with twelve children for placement. At the Emmet County courthouse these orphans, aged two to eleven, were given into the care of local families deemed able to provide good homes. The Children's Aid Society, with a record of aiding over 64 000 children, believes in parental responsibility and dispatches nurses to monitor placements. The crowd filled the courthouse as hopeful families vied for placements, including Mr and Mrs George Swanson for baby Jean Howett and Mr and Mrs W J Fisher for Raysell Hempstead and brother Victor, among others, with eight-year-old Walter Dawson also mentioned.
