Old Estherville storefronts recall a growing town
The square and surrounding stores near a prairie edge tell of Estherville forty years ago. A muddy diagonal road, a few buildings, and sloughs defined a once sparse landscape. By 1902 H C Sillge moved into a brick structure, with the old store later used by Mrs Collins, Mrs M M Stott, L F Eldred, and Kennedy & Brenneman before the Popular Price Boot Shop occupied it. Only remnants of the original shops endure in this surviving corner of town.
