Miss Wade and Hinton cross a trestle above a river cotton landing when danger looms. A child falls into a bin while the train passes. Hinton dives into the swift current to save her and the group, returning with all the children safe as the tense scene ends with a wary, evolving romance.
In a tense scene a speeding engine bears down on a trestle over the gin. Hinton orders the children to hurry and leaps into action. He snatches the six year old, then drops two others to safety despite the peril. The children remain unaware of the danger above.
