Hunters Clash With Wardens At Open Iowa Season
Hundreds of hunters gathered at Wall Lake Wright county ready for the open season dawn. Four minutes before sunrise shots triggered arrests and stiff fines of 25 dollars plus costs. Deputy wardens ordered vigilance as prairie chickens remain protected by state law until 1927. Separately a Quaker Oats case in Cedar Rapids upheld industrial compensation for Antonia Helia who died after a fall on a lift job despite epilepsy. The ruling cites the fall as proximate cause and confirms compensation under the workers’ act. Meanwhile Mr Noble, aided by Vinton Fish and Game club, seeks to breed ducks on his farm ponds with signs restricting hunting to boost duck broods.
