Court backing law on tuberculosis testing upheld in Iowa

The Iowa Supreme Court upheld the state bovine tuberculosis testing law in a decision dismissing an injunction by M. J. Fevold and about fifty county farmers against Webster County officials and the state departments. The ruling affirmed the law as constitutional, allowing enforcement by the Department of Agriculture and making accredited-area cattle breeding stock tests mandatory, with penalties for noncompliance. The decision ends a lengthy appellate process spawned by concerns over due process and property rights in confiscating diseased cattle.
