Best Corn Contests In Iowa This Year
Iowa farmers are invited to enter the acre corn contest conducted by the Iowa Corn and Small Grain Growers Association and county farm bureaus. Entries, from five-acre fields, are due in October or early November with judging by two disinterested officials on yield of dry shelled corn. State and county trophies promote practical yields from regular farming methods, with the state winner’s name engraved on the state trophy. Prices for corn husking were discussed at a county farm bureau meeting, advocating seven cents per bushel with elevators, or five to six cents without, to curb inflated costs.
