Cottonseed Meal Offers Savings for Livestock Rations
Dairymen hog feeders and beef cattle feeders can cut costs by using cotton seed meal in place of part of tankage and linseed oilmeal. Cornstalks and Winter Milking Practices
Dairy extension workers at Town State College warn that feeding cows in cornstalk fields during winter cuts milk production and profits. Fall freshened cows moved to stalks lose production, with no feed alone restoring previous levels. As Iowa dairying grows more systematized, farmers should keep cows out of cornstalks to avoid costly declines in winter milking profitability.
