Business Men Oppose Ratherville Telephone Franchise
Representatives of The Vindicator And Republican polled Ratherville businessmen on the Emmet County Telephone franchise proposal. A large majority opposed granting a 25 year franchise, citing higher costs, unguaranteed rural line promises, and doubts about promoter plans. Many urged clear conditions and warned two companies would raise rates and waste public value.
