Will Nations Fight Over Population Pressures?
The June Technical World Magazine piece argues that by 1800 France and Germany held similar territories, but Germany’s population surged to 64 million driven by high fertility and emigration. France grew little, with Alsace-Lorraine unchanged. German density now 303 per square mile implies a need for new empire, mirrored by crowded Japan with 50 million over 160,000 square miles. The article questions whether racial fertility underlies future conflict, referencing the idea that overcrowding drives expansion and war.
