Weather Crop Bulletin Week Ending May 7 1906
The past week was unusually cool with killing frosts on mornings of the 6th and 7th. Minimum temperatures dropped below freezing at many stations, damaging some tender fruits. One third of the state had above normal rainfall in western and northern districts, while overall conditions favored plowing and planting preparations. Cool weather delayed corn planting, though progress was noted in the south and east. A large area is ready for planting and rapid work will follow fair weather. Grass in meadows and pastures advanced well, and small grain crops, especially wheat, oats, and barley, are thriving where acreage is greatest.
