Water Returns to East Okoboji via Spirit Lake System
Water from Big Spirit Lake began flowing into East Okoboji Tuesday for the first time in years after a temporary rock dam was removed west of the Orleans boat house with authority from the State Conservation Commission. The action ties to efforts to lower Spirit Lake levels, which remain near a 25 year high. Officials plan a spillway at the raceway north end and a fish screen was installed to prevent migration.
