Iowa dairymen back AAA plan in Des Moines vote
At a Des Moines meeting called by the Iowa corn hog committee 91 of Iowa’s 99 counties endorsed the general reduction plan of the AAA. Provisions adopted include a processing tax for cooperating dairy producers a two million dollar advertising fund and limits on imports and milk production reductions of 10 to 20 percent. The plan also calls for eliminating cows infected with tuberculosis or Bangs disease and transferring cows from surplus to needy farmers. The group rejected eliminating cows and restricting sale by institutions. A long term program backed by the secretary of agriculture was approved. The dairy men meet again April 5 to hear AAA dairy specialists.
