Rock Island plans new rail surveys and linking lines

Reports say Rock Island is surveying between Ft Dodge and Clarion and Mallard and Emmetsburg for connecting links in its system. If built, the lines would aid Rock Island and RIC properties, placing Estherville in direct coalfield access and lowering soft coal costs for local industry. Changes to passenger schedules would shift Iowa Falls and Albert Lea connections, with the southbound run adjusting to 8:30 or just after supper.
