Social rounds fill Danforth vicinity on Sunday

The Hans Christensen family visited at the Jens Jensen home Sunday. Numerous neighbors including Mr. and Mrs. Pete Paulson and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Olson with families attended Mrs. Amos Hanson’s birthday. Allen Berven and Lloyd Hanson spoke Sunday. Various residents visited, shopped, or attended church activities throughout the area.

Dance at Legion hall draws Maple Hill crowd

Local residents attended a Friday evening dance at the Legion hall in Maple Hill. The list of attendees includes many from Estherville Armstrong and surrounding towns, with several visitors noted and community events mentioned throughout the week.

Quadruple murder suspect Joe Berven held without bond

The bodies of three of four victims were found in the Berven home kitchen where authorities believe he beat his wife and three children to death with a shotgun. Joe Berven, 33, farmer, was held to the grand jury without bond.

Gruver Bridge Victory Over Estherville Visitors

Gruver hosted Estherville and Gruver teams for a Monday night bridge game with the home team winning. The League ladies cleared 27 dollars from the town sale day dinner and issued thanks to all helpers. Election of officers at Wednesday’s League meeting named Mrs. John Campbell president and others to offices. Bonds were chosen for the coming year. Next meeting set for Thursday, April 6 with hosts Mrs Curtisage and Mrs Hugh Mackey.

St Patrick's Dance At Estherville Draws Local Youth

The event drew a number of local young people to Estherville on Friday night for a St Patrick's dance. Marie Lyle was visiting Mildred Brown for the weekend. Mrs Joseph Brown and two sons and Mrs Milford Brown and daughter visited Wednesday with Mrs Margaret Brown while their husbands attended the town sale.
