Editorial: Downhome Nerves About Modern Lifestyles
An unsure editorial laments the rise of automobiles roller skating and modern leisure. It argues the economy relies on the car industry yet advocates safe healthy pastimes like biking skating and horseback riding, warning against a backward step while preserving practical home life details.
War time homes and gardens boost food at home
The piece urges home cooking and victory gardens to cut costs and support soldiers. It notes canned goods entering via dry form products, factories repurposed for canning, and emphasizes every home as a unit in the war effort. It contrasts public chatter with real gardening activity and cites Ray Specheck and governor remarks on war effort responsibility.
