Butterfat yield aided with cracked soybeans in dairy cows
A Iowa State College study finds that cracked soybeans as a protein supplement in dairy rations increases butterfat but lowers milk. Experiments by J. Cannon, N. Williams, and D. Espe show whole cracked soybeans raise butterfat versus soybean meal, with comparable cow weight and lighter butter color. economic balance depends on bean versus oilmeal prices and hauling costs.

Soybean fed cows show steady intake and dairy yield
Cattle rations using soybeans kept cows on feed unlike prior fattening tests. Dairy sows produced similar fat in milk to intake, with some cows eating up to eight and a half pounds daily. Iowa farmers growing soybeans may meet dairy protein needs without commercial feed, promising postwar acreage shifts. notes on local movements and family relocations accompany the report.
